Paribus

Paribus is a program that links your email account and your Amazon account, and other online stores, and will track price drops and pay you the difference between your original purchase and the price drop!

I bought a Nexus 6 and got back $150 when the price dropped a few days later.  No work besides linking the accounts (link the email account where e-receipts are sent, and my Amazon account).

ShopKick adds rewards for online shopping!

Letter from the CEO:

shopkick
Hi Lazy Money Guy,

I’m excited to share that today we’ve updated Shopkick with some exciting new features. For the first time ever, you can earn kicks for shopping online!

Shopkickers have told us how much fun they have using Shopkick, and they want more opportunities to earn free gift cards and other merchandise. With these new updates, you can enjoy three new ways to get kicks for online shopping. You can now earn kicks for visiting online stores, viewing online offers, and making purchases from Apple, Boxed, eBay, Groupon, Spring, and Jet.com.

I love hearing from consumers across the country about the joy and excitement Shopkick brings to their shopping. Cassondra Taylor from Newport News, VA had an early preview of online shopping and said, “These new features will definitely help with back to school shopping! I normally use my kicks for my Starbucks addiction, but now I will use them to get school supplies for the teens.”

We’ll do everything we can to make your online or offline shopping trip — whether it’s for groceries, apparel, or electronics — as fun and rewarding as possible. I invite you to try out these new features and connect with us on Facebook to share what you think.

Happy online shopkicking!

Bill Demas
Shopkick CEO

Gift Card Granny

Gift Card Granny is where I go to buy discount eBay and iTunes gift cards.  I use the iTunes gift cards for the iOS apps that BestReviewApps lists where the app costs money.  I make that money back, plus the reward money for downloading and reviewing those apps.  Average savings on iTunes gift cards has been $0.09 for every $1.00 spent.  So I buy an app that costs $0.99, it only costs me out of pocket $0.90.  I also will get $1.00-$1.50 back on top of the full $0.99 that the app costs when I do the BestReviewApps review.  So I spent $0.90 and I potentially get back $1.99-2.49!

I also get AMC theater gift cards, so movie going is a lot cheaper (I usually find 12-20% discounts on their gift cards), plus signing up for the AMC stubs program (free for Insiders, $15/year for Premier, which I also pay for using the gift cards I purchased on GiftCardGranny!), which gives me points for purchasing tickets, food, etc. on top of waiving the online ticket purchase fees through their website or Fandango.  So I am basically earning more AMC Stubs points per actual dollar spent.

I have notification alerts should any Hulu gift cards show up.  I always look for gift cards here first before I go shopping to make sure if I can save the most money.  They can deliver e-gift cards or actual physical gift cards.

When you select the card(s) you want, you will be redirected to seller sites, not actually purchasing the card(s) in GiftCardGranny.  Some sites through GiftCardGranny have stars next to their name because they award points on GiftCardGranny which can be used for added benefits, or towards future gift card purchases.

MileUp

MileUp awards you for driving.  You get 2 points for every mile you drive.

You can use these points to enter into Sweepstakes for Amazon gift cards, cash, or even a brand new car!

You also get an in-depth look at your driving habits and stats!

They have weekly challenges that award bonus points.

Get $250 when you submit a verified accident report!

They also have something called Street Sweeps which will award surprise points when you hit certain areas or miles driven.

Payver

Payver is an iOS app that records your driving and pays you for it!

You get points per mile traveled and they have certain conditions in order to maximize how many points per mile you earn.

You will need a phone mount to hold your phone in a way that it can see the road clearly and at a good angle.

When you have everything set up and ready to go, you will press the Record button and it begins recording your drive until you press the End Trip button.  When you start each trip, it will first show a cartoon road and indicates how to line it up so it matches the road you’ll be driving on.

As you drive, it will count up the points as well as show your speed and which direction you’re driving.  At the end of the trip, it will calculate the total estimated points.  They are an estimate because your road conditions and other factors will play into actual points when your trips are uploaded and reviewed.

You upload the trips and will see their progress as they upload.  Finished trips will have a check mark on them.

To see total points, achievements, team and player rankings, and rewards, click on the Profile button and then you have access to all that information and more. (Information has been scribbled over to respect privacy of other players and their usernames).

I am including the settings I have when I use the app to get the most out of it.  I have an unlimited data plan through Sprint, but I try to use WiFi whenever possible since it can sometimes have better uploading speeds for how much data each trip is.

One more thing:  This can be used to record incidents from 20 seconds before to 20 seconds after, which you can use as evidence.

Voxpopme

VoxPopMe is a survey app that wants the questions asked via video recording.  As long as your smartphone has a front-facing camera, it is pretty easy to use.  They will start off many times with preliminary questions you answer to see if you qualify for the video surveys.  If you do, the video surveys will pop up.  I have made usually between $0.25 – $0.65 per video survey.

Your answers have to be between 30-60 seconds.  You have to be somewhere quiet so the recording can capture your answers.  You have to be somewhere with enough light, so they can see your face and facial expressions as you answer the questions.

Cash out is at $15 minimum via PayPal.

You can redo answers prior to submitting.  I have had to practice some because I will ramble if I don’t know exactly what I want to say.
